January Update – I’m Here
I still remember the strange sense of vertigo as I landed in Phnom Penh at 12pm. I navigated my way through immigration and out to a waiting teammate who brought me to the flat I had rented. We carted up my luggage to the 5th floor and I sat down on my bed, in the…
1/30/17 – Veggies
Today in language class we learned basic fruits and veggies and how to speak with the vendors in the market. After class my roommate and I practiced in the local market by our house. I have a long way to go, but I’m encouraged by the little words here and there I’m starting to pick…
1/29/17 – Long Day
Most Cambodians work 12 a day, 6 days a week. At least some of our language teachers come teach us Khmer all day and go to school at night. One of our regular tuktuk drivers says he doesn’t usually eat dinner until 9pm. And it’s not even the hot season yet.

1/24/17 – Anything Goes
From traffic laws to the amount of stuff and/or people you can put in one tuktuk…
1/23/17 – Night
It seems like just the past few days I’ve finally been able to stay up past 8PM. I love the way a city changes at night. Going home from a friends house after dinner tonight; the air was much cooler and the streets less chaotic; the city was at peace.
1/22/17 – One Pot Meal
When you only have one burner, every meal is a one pot meal. Tonight I made spinach and ham marinara; the most ambitious meal yet.
