October Update

It is my pleasure to be able to bring to you exciting updates from the EMI Southeast Asia office launch. The biggest announcement is that EMI leadership has officially named Cambodia as the country. From now on our office will be known as EMI Cambodia. EMI has also named Chad Gamble as the future office director. Chad was the former office director for EMI Uganda, he and his family has just recently moved to India to work in the EMI office there. EMI India has been growing lately in their involvement with Indian design professionals, and Chad plans to bring a similar model to our Cambodia office.

We also have another couple, Chris and Kaylee, raising support to join our team. Chris is a civil engineer and will go on his second project trip this spring. It is an answer to prayer that with Vicky and I, our small team is growing.

We recently had our first team conference call to begin getting to know one another and prepare for the year ahead. Pictured is Vicky and I, Scott, and Jonathan Trotter. Jonathan is a resident missionary in Phnom Penh and was able to share with us a little more about what living there could look like. It is such a blessing to be able to start to connect with christians already living there.

IMG_4455An unexpected gift from the Lord this fall has been the opportunity to professionally mentor one of our interns in graphic design. Abby studied interior design in college, but has been interested in design for some time. She is still learning and growing in her God given talents and isn’t sure quite what she wants to do now that college is over.

I’m sure you can understand how I relate to this, and it has been a privilege to walk with her through this transition in her life. Not only is this exciting to me, but it is also confirmation of what my future in Cambodia will look like. As it has been a desire of mine to be able to professionally and spiritually mentor young Khmer as they come through the EMI Cambodia office.
